Introducing Kerry Johnson

The ever-growing Merrimack Honors program has seen many changes in the past year including having a new overseer of the program. Kerry Johnson assumes this role with her new position as Interim Vice-Provost. Johnson has been at Merrimack College since 1996. After earning her Ph.D. in English from the University of Iowa, she went right into the position of Assistant Professor of English all in the same year until she was promoted to Professor of English in 2013. Before she became Interim Vice-Provost, she was Associate Dean of Liberal Arts.

Johnson has bright plans for the future of the Honors Program, focusing on revitalizing the curriculum. She wants it to be challenging and “give students opportunities for more choices and better planning.” Something that has impressed Johnson about the Honors Program is the community that we have built and our commitment to the program and other members. She values our wish for everyone to succeed and how we work together to make up one community.

We are all excited to work with Kerry Johnson to keep up with the quickly expanding Honors Program at Merrimack. As a message to the program, Johnson says, “I look forward to meeting all of you in the upcoming months. We’ll have a great year”!
