Brad Picard - Civil Engineering

Honors Student Brad Picard ‘17 works as a Research Assistant for Civil Engineering professor Dr. Kaklamanos at Merrimack College. Picard is completing tasks in the area of earthquake analysis, a field Dr. Kaklamanos has been working in for a number of years. Ground motion prediction equations (GMPEs) is the main topic he is examining, and Picard’s responsibilities include formatting Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and Mathcad worksheets to produce accurate outputs from the equations using various parameters such as magnitude, soil type, and mainshock/ aftershock determination.

This summer Picard has a full-time internship with Callahan Inc., a construction management company in Bridgewater, MA. He will be working as a Assistant Project Manager alongside other project managers and superintendents. The job will involve constructing two luxury apartment complexes in Quincy, MA. Picard is gaining great experience through internships and the connections of Merrimack College.
